Chief is one of the UK’s leading independent production companies established in 1999. For 25 years, we’ve been making films across a diverse genre, from TV commercials & music videos to Ad Funded Programs and award winning documentaries.

We regularly work with many of the world's most recognised brands and over the years, Chief has built a unique creative and collaborative culture around our roster of brilliant directors and creative talent.

The Role

We have a rare opening within our production department for a Director's Assistant / Head of Vault. Whilst this sounds like something related to banking security, it's actually a lot more exciting than that (unless you're into banking security and if so power to you).

Here are the roles and responsibilities:

  • Creating exciting and tailored show reels for our directors, based on a brief or script
  • Director's treatment image/reference research
  • Director's assistant duties (which might include reference finding, pitch support, building of presentations, laying out of storyboards, editing of Animatics, prop sourcing etc)
  • Archival of Chief's creative output, and continual update of our 'Vault'. The 'Vault' is our internal archival system which contains Chief's creative work from the past 25 years

We'd love to hear from all you creative types! Someone highly motivated, with an artistic eye  and strong interest in film production and the pitching process. Someone who thrives in an exciting fast paced environment, working closely with directors and producers.

Our ideal candidate should be proficient in the following:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Keynote
  • Editing in Adobe Premier Pro or DaVinci Resolve
  • A flair for creative writing and idea creation
  • Highly organised
  • You will need fierce attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly and efficiently to internal briefs.
  • Basic understanding of film production and terminology is a plus but by no means mandatory.

Role Benefits:

  • Exposure to pitches for top tier brands/agencies and film projects
  • Allows for loads of creative freedom. We will actively encourage you to take initiative and suggest ideas
  • Learn from the best. Gain hands-on experience with a seasoned film production team and grow your skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.

We are open and welcoming to all ages and experience levels, genders, backgrounds and those with disabilities. Finding the right cultural fit is our highest priority. We're not worried if you don't have experience in the film and advertising industry, or if you don't have a university degree. It's your attitude, work ethic and creative eye and taste level we're most interested in. If you do happen to have a website or portfolio we'd love to see it as part of your application.

This role is a full time role in our offices in Manchester, Media City.
