Cicely Ward, Head of Operations, Embryo

Cicely Ward works at Manchester-based digital marketing agency Embryo.

She has worked at the agency since 2019, initially starting out as operations manager before being promoted to head of operations in August.

With a growing headcount and clients including Native Residential and BCB Group, Embryo was featured as one of Prolific North’s Top 50 Digital agencies earlier this year.

Here, Cicely shares her top three influences.

The person that has inspired my working career the most, and why

I don’t have one specific person that has inspired my working career the most, but the people I surround myself with are all naturally career driven, like-minded people and I can openly discuss any career challenges I have with them. We always support each other and envision the lifestyles we want to have and this keeps us motivated to remain resilient when working through stressful times.

The place that has inspired my working career the most, and why

Manchester City Centre inspires me every day with the thousands of opportunities available and up and coming businesses to learn about. I love the hustle and bustle from getting off the train on my morning commute to the post 5pm social aspect whether this is networking or drinks with colleagues.

The thing that has inspired my working career the most, and why

Perhaps not the answer expected however, the things that inspire my working career the most are thriving off career-driven fictional characters in my favourite TV series. The leading women in Suits such as Donna Paulson COO of the infamous law firm, Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl, Shiv in Succession – whilst they aren’t real people, the way they carry themselves is inspiring to me and I feel empowered to keep working toward my goals in a bold, determined and unapologetic manner.
