Amy Kilner is an NFT designer and artist.
She set up a new design house called Skyhi Creative in Sheffield last year, working across graphic design, motion design, NFT art and 3D design.
Already securing work from musician Fatboy Slim and former Social Chain co-founder and “Dragon” Steven Bartlett, she has previously worked with NYFW, Warner Music and Boohoo.
She shared how a recent week in her life went.
Monday
I head into my Sheffield based studio, sort all the boring admin bits out so I can concentrate on being creative for the rest of the week. I can’t do my best work when I’m juggling emails and admin at the same time, maybe it’s a designer thing. I’m currently on a retainer with Medallion FM based in NYC so with the time difference it’s always interesting getting ahead on working with their worldwide music clients! Oh and, I also make sure my dog bobo, who comes with me to work, is setup with enough treats for the day.
Tuesday
Now for the interesting bit, this week first up I’m creating a couple of social campaigns for US music artists that will be posted on their profiles with 500k+ followers, then there’s a sparkly 3D NFT too on top that sits alongside the project. This is promoting a new way artists can connect with their fans, with private community access they can be the first to hear about news and releases from their most played songs! All of this involves a combo of using Cinema4D and the full Adobe suite… And a bit of arty problem solving on top.
Wednesday
This Wednesday I’m making a start on a flexible six-week project to create a campaign for a Sheffield based Jewellery company called Jessica Flinn, I can’t say too much but I love their approach to completely stand out from competitors with their creative campaigns. I work at my best with clients that think out the box and want to explore completely new ways of combining reality with the digital space. With this being a longer project I’ll be sharing this alongside other things, I find it helps me work better if I have a lot of different things going on.
Thursday
Thursday starts with an in person meeting at Global Brands (the home of drinks brands VK, Hooch and Corky’s). They are an old employer of mine so it’s a bit of a homelike feeling doing the odd bit of 3D work for them, it’s also nice to have a chat away from zoom for once. Another ace project is for music visuals at SXSW, a festival that celebrates new tech, film, music and education based in Texas but attracts a global audience. Again I can’t say too much here but it really does hit a new level of enhancing event experience! It’s something I think we will see a lot more of in the future as technology levels up.
Friday
NFTs, NFTs, NFTs. If everything’s on track with client work I invest time into connecting with the web3 world on twitter/discord and creating my own NFT collection that I’m launching in April on KnownOrigin (a rare digital art platform). Perfect timing before I head out to New York for NFT NY! My first project is based around mental health so it’s super important to me that I get it right, even if it runs into the weekend as it’s a personal challenge and outlet too.
