Monday
It’s here again – Monday morning and back to it after a lovely (and tiring!) weekend spent with my friends and our children at the park, zoo and swimming, Sometimes heading into work feels like a break – I can drink hot coffee and hear myself think! I start every week with a day in the office with the team – kicking things off with a marketing meeting, we catch-up on our weekends and chat through priorities and actions for the next few days.
I then jump into a meeting with the department heads, to talk about how we may be able to support each other and understand any areas that need a little more attention from a marketing perspective. My third and final meeting of the morning is with our sales team, to chat through new business outreach and the marketing activity to support. Open ECX is due to launch a new product for customers in the coming months – so a big focus of my time goes into the implementation of this, ensuring the team are all working cohesively to our project timeline. Watch this space!
Combatting the Monday blues, we all head out for lunch at the team’s favourite spot to catch-up on life, weekend antics and anything but work. After a lovely lunch hour, I’m set up for the afternoon and put my head into party planning mode – as I’m arranging our all-staff summer party taking place this Wednesday. Getting the team together for the first time in a while due to covid, and celebrating our 10-year anniversary, we’ve gone all out by booking a rooftop bar, live music, creating themed cocktails and presenting special team awards; it’s been a long time coming and I can’t wait to get everyone together to celebrate the businesses recent successes!
Tuesday
T-minus one day until the big event and today is filled with back-to-back meetings. A chunk of the day is taken up with our board meeting – where our full board, including our non-exec directors, meet at our Manchester office to discuss business highlights, status on departmental targets and product innovation. There are lots of exciting things to come in Q3, with ambitious approach devised to level up the business in the next few months.
The team have smashed targets recently with some huge clients potentially coming onto the books in the coming months, we had a great catch-up on the plan and how to nurture new, key relationship going forwards. We then had a coffee catch up with a long-standing Open ECX customer, Carl Sturnam, Head of Finance at Brafords Building Supplies. Carl chatted me through how our solutions were helping them at the moment. Very pleased with how things were going, enjoying the benefits of our products across their business offering, I pass the glowing feedback on to the rest of our team.
I spend the afternoon visiting our venue ahead of tomorrow’s party, it looks fantastic and ready for the big event. I put the finishing touches on our awards presentation, with some being rewarded for excellent work – and others for comical value! I’ve also developed a video of our lovely customers thanking the team for all of their hard work over the last 10 years, which should be a nice surprise. I finish early to collect my son, George, from preschool – this is a great time to decompress from the day and time with George is such a priority. Luckily Open ECX’s flexible working encourages this.
Wednesday
Today is the big day and we FINALLY all get together for our summer party! Before heading to the event, I tie up some loose ends with clients and let them all know we’re logging off slightly early. I head to the venue to meet with the event organiser and finalise a few last minute details before the team arrives.
Celebrating our dedication and hard work, plus 10 years of success for Open ECX, everyone is in high spirits and has a fantastic time. It was lovely to see everyone together in one room after all the years of remote working – and with the live music, cocktails and even a themed Open ECX cake donning a hard hat, it really was a fun day for everyone to remember!
Thursday
Time to recover after yesterday’s fantastic celebrations – it was a bit of a late one with sore heads all around! We were all given a late start to rest and recover, so I have a relaxed morning catching up on emails and ticking a few easy bits off my to do list. Whilst it’s quiet, I check in on a few of our campaigns to see how they’re performing and share a few updates with clients.
In the afternoon, I have a check in call with our PR agency, as we put our heads together to discuss current activity, coming up with some fresh ideas for the month ahead. I end the day with a few check ins with the team – everyone is feeling it slightly, but all are still on a high after such a special day celebrating.
Friday
I’ve just about recovered from Wednesday night’s celebrations and after a busy week, Friday gives me time to tie things up ahead of the weekend, which I plan to spend with the family in sunny Manchester – I know, not something you hear all too often. But first, it’s the weekly round-up meetings.
We have a marketing huddle to share team feedback and successes from the week, and report on our Google Ad / LinkedIn performance. A big part of my role is generating leads into the company and implementing the strategy to accomplish this – so we chat through any engagement via our website or campaigns and communicate this back to the sales team. We share a couple more internal updates, before checking in on each other’s weekend plans and finishing up for the day.
