Lee Thatcher is head of cloud and innovation at CloudCoCo, a transformational technology specialist headquartered in Leeds.
With around 140 employees and over 1,000 customers, last year the business reported it was eyeing an ambitious £100m revenue target.
Thatcher joined CloudCoCo last year, bringing nearly 20 years’ tech experience.
Here, he shares his top three influences across his life and career…
The person that has inspired my working career the most, and why
From the start of my career, my wife has been one of my biggest influences, and more recently the family we’ve created continues to incentivise me to work hard. Their desire for me to reach my full potential fuels my determination to progress and to be the best I can be. Being able to provide a secure future for them is my greatest motivation.
Additionally, my three-year-old daughter has provided surprising inspiration. I’m blown away by her innate grasp of technology, and seeing how far we’ve come in this digital age spurs me on to actively participate in her technological education, and to provide a positive role model in her life.
The place that has inspired my working career the most, and why
My first visit to the corporate beast that is Microsoft Reading has continued to have a lasting impact on me to this day. Although I’ve never directly worked for Microsoft, visiting its UK hub was really inspiring. The opportunity to engage with a technology giant and be at the forefront of innovation has always driven me. I found the sprawling campus with multiple offices and all-inclusive facilities fascinating — it has its very own ecosystem. It felt like an entire other world within one location, really underlining my passion for the tech industry and showcasing what true success in the industry looks like.
The thing that has inspired my working career the most, and why
The concept that has had the biggest impact on my career is the fourth industrial revolution. Being part of this transformative journey has been extremely exciting — even exhilarating at some points, with how quickly things can change.
Witnessing the dramatic, exponential advancements in technology and actively contributing to the discovery process has been gratifying in my career. I get great satisfaction from helping people adapt and understand the evolving tech landscape, making it an integral part of their day-to-day lives, at work and at home. Embracing and guiding others through this digital revolution drives my passion for my career, and dictates how I go about my work.
