Dominic Apes is head of marketing at Silverbean, an affiliate and partner marketing agency.
He joined the Newcastle-based agency in June 2023, following previous marketing and brand roles across NORTH, Asahi UK and Meantime Brewery.
Here, he shares the top three influences that have helped shape his life and career…
The person that has inspired my working career the most, and why
My biggest supporter and the person that inspires and pushes me the most is my wife, Christine. She’s super creative, has a great eye for design, and works at Barbour as an Accessories Designer.
Outside of the people I know, two of my biggest inspirations are YouTuber/ Filmmaker, Casey Neistat and Music Producer, Rick Rubin. They’re both incredibly motivational, and their content really resonates with me. I recommend reading Rick’s book – ‘The Creative Act: A Way of Being’, and watching Casey’s recent video – ‘Sisyphus and the Impossible Dream’.
The place that has inspired my working career the most, and why
It has to be the Meantime Brewery in Greenwich, which sadly I’ve just heard will be closing to move production to Fuller’s Brewery in Chiswick. I started working part time at the brewery, to keep me afloat whilst pursuing a DJ career. I worked my way up from a bar shift, to becoming a tour guide, a freelance graphic designer, a territory sales manager, had a stint in trade marketing, and eventually became the brand manager.
The thing that has inspired my working career the most, and why
The ‘thing’ always changes for me, there’s always something different I’m working towards. I was working hard to save for my dream wedding, now I’m about to buy my first house, and next I’ll be saving towards starting a family. So really, I guess you could say family is the thing that has inspired my working career the most.
