A Week in My Life: Eloise Turner, Apprentice Marketing Executive, Realm Recruit

Eloise Turner

Eloise Turner is an apprentice marketing executive at Realm Recruit, based in Altrincham.

Realm Recruit is a legal recruitment company that helps to develop legal careers and grow law firms by matching the right lawyers with the right firms.

To kick off National Apprenticeship Week, which takes place across 5 to 11 February to celebrate apprenticeships, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the talented apprentices working across the North’s creative, digital, media and tech sectors as part of a takeover of our regular features this week after teaming up with The Juice Academy.

Here’s what a recent week in Turner’s looked like…

Monday

I kick my week off with a nice drive and small walk into the office in the heart of Altrincham. Once in the office I make myself a nice cup of tea and start my working day!

I start off my day with reposting any of our job adverts that may have expired over the weekend. It is always important to do this, however, with January being our busiest month with more lawyers than usual looking for a new job it’s important that jobs are reposted onto the relevant job boards as soon as possible.

It’s then time to go straight into a meeting with the marketing team.

We meet twice a week to catch up on where we’re at with our current campaigns and discuss how we can optimise the campaign reach and performance. We also share with each other our priorities for the week, so we know what projects we’re all working on.

Next, I make a start on collecting jobs from each recruiter that will be used in our monthly newsletter, The Career Accelerator.

In the afternoon I attend our Monday meeting which is where everyone in the company comes together on a Teams call to talk about what’s happened in the past week for the business including deals that have been made and get an update on the week ahead. Each week, the meeting is hosted by a different member of the team, which gives us the chance to hear from people we might not work directly with, in keeping with Realm’s “refreshingly collaborative” value.

Tuesday

I start my day with a weekly plan of action meeting with the head of marketing, Sarah Glynn, to discuss my plan for the week and what tasks I should be prioritising and how I will meet my targets for the week. This is helpful as I always feel more positive about my week ahead when I know what the structure of it will look.

We have been working on a few blogs that are going to be posted on our website. Once the copy of these were completed, I was given the task of creating the graphics to accompany these on the website and upload the blog itself via our CMS. We’re excited to be hosting a series of webinars for lawyers this quarter.

In the afternoon, I work on the designs for some mailouts on Mailchimp that will promote this to our community. I enjoy using Mailchimp because there are so many features and all different design options, it’s great!

Wednesday

Today’s my last day in the office for the week and I start the day with posting new jobs that have come through from recruiters onto the relevant job boards. I also create some mailouts that will be sent to candidates promoting some of our current roles.

We then have the last marketing meeting of the week. The webinars campaign is really starting to take shape and it’s great to see how much progress we’ve made as a team in just a few days! Like we did on Monday, we also share what we’ll be focusing on in the next few days.

In the afternoon, it’s time to create the promotional social posts for our first webinar. I created two different social posts on Canva that we are posting onto our company’s LinkedIn page next week when the promotion starts.

In the last few months, we have had two new recruiters join the company, so I spend the back end of my day creating some ‘meet the team’ style social posts about them which will again be shared on Realm’s company LinkedIn page.

When today came to an end it was time to get home and catch up on my new binge show!

Thursday

Just before we broke up for two weeks over Christmas, we enjoyed our annual Christmas outing as a company and awards. The Realmies! So, this morning I’m creating the social post that will be posted onto LinkedIn and other social platforms announcing the winners of all the different categories to celebrate their success. This, along with a reel I created about The Realmies last week, helps us to show off Realm’s great culture and our employer brand!

Later on, I have my review with Sarah and Dawn who is my development coach to see how I am feeling with my apprenticeship and to see what I am up to in my role at Realm. This is a great time for me to reflect on everything that I am doing and see how The Juice Academy sessions are really supporting me and my learning at Realm Recruit!

Friday

I am working from home today (a huge benefit of working at Realm), and it’s the day of the week where I focus on my apprenticeship work and work through some e-learning. I am completing the Copywriting and SEO tasks today.

After a busy week, it’s time to finish for the day and enjoy a relaxing weekend!
