Newcastle-based digital agency Orange Bus has been acquired by technology company G2G3, part of Capita, for an undisclosed sum.
Orange Bus was founded in 2006 by Julian Leighton (right above) and Mike Parker, who had an equal share in the company.
Turnover stood at around £4m last year, with current clients including Joules, Barbour and HM Revenue and Customs.
Capita says the acquisition “will enhance G2G3 and Capita’s existing digital development capability and strengthen their ability to deliver complex client projects”.
Mark Sutherland, chief executive of G2G3 and G2G3 Digital, said: “We are thrilled that Orange Bus is coming on board. We are always looking to extend our capability and reach in the digital arena, and the acquisition of a specialist digital solutions agency like Orange Bus will enable us to increase our scale and reach to design and deliver ever more innovative projects for our clients.
“They have been delivering some incredible work for their clients – including Capita – and we look forward to working with them more closely.”
Julian Leighton, chief executive of Orange Bus, said: “Joining G2G3 and the wider Capita Group is the ideal next step for the team at Orange Bus, giving us the scope to continue to grow. As part of G2G3 we’ll be able to offer a broader range of services to our clients – and Capita’s track record of nurturing the many businesses it acquires speaks for itself.”
Orange Bus currently employs 75 people across two sites in Newcastle and London.
It will retain its branding – the company was originally suggested by Leighton’s then seven-year-old daughter.
Edinburgh-based G2G3 uses creative game science to deliver solutions for the likes of HP, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson, Swiss Re and Ford.
