Netflix has signed up to co-produce the new thriller from MediaCityUK’s Red Production Company.

Paranoid was commissioned by ITV in March and the 8-part series will air on the channel later this year. With Netflix signing up as co-producer, it will also stream worldwide.

Filmed in Cheshire, Paranoid stars Indira Varma (Game Of Thrones, New Blood), Robert Glenister (The Musketeers, Law & Order UK), Neil Stuke (Suspects, Doctor Foster), Lesley Sharp (Scott & Bailey) and Kevin Doyle (Downton Abbey). It’s based around the fictional town of Woodmere, as detectives investigate, what should be an open and shut case of the murder of a female GP.

It’s been written by Bill Gallagher (The Paradise, Love Life, Lark Rise to Candleford) and is produced by Tom Sherry (Prey, Ordinary Lies), while Mark Tonderai (The Five) directs.

The deal with Netflix was orchestrated through Red’s parent company, Studiocanal.
