My Influences: Sophie Panton, Content Creator Apprentice, Lightbulb Media

Sophie Panton

Sophie Panton joined Lightbulb Media as a content creator apprentice with The Juice Academy and Apprentify in February 2023.

Before joining the Manchester-based marketing agency, Panton was at university studying fashion design. Posting content for a local gym, she decided to leave the course to pursue her interest in content creation.

Here, she shares her top three influences.

The person that has inspired my working career the most, and why

It’s hard for me to name one person who has inspired my working career the most. I have been brought up with everything I needed to try every creative medium possible. But more specifically now with the social media direction my work has taken, Ayra, my line manager, stands out as a significant source of inspiration. She has taken part in the same apprenticeship as I am currently on. With three years of industry expertise, she continues to offer guidance and insights, becoming a crucial mentor in my professional development.

The place that has inspired my working career the most, and why

I’d have to say Manchester because, in my opinion, it is the centre of the universe when it comes to disruptive creativity. Not just because of its numerous marketing agencies but also its cultural diversity, vibrant music and arts scene, as well as fashion brands, which thrive on social media platforms. The city is a hub for various social media trends, food blogs and an abundance of activities. Manchester to me feels like the home of everything social.

The thing that has inspired my working career the most, and why

The thing that has inspired me in my working career the most is the variety and experimentation within the industry. My greatest strength has to be my creativity and content creation is the perfect avenue to channel it. My career allows me to steer clear of the repetitive tasks that most jobs have. I can experiment with different writing, graphic and audio styles which, in my opinion, really is the most creative I could ever be. It’s taught me how to be confident in front of the camera and allowed me to be confident in my work.
