Digital product agency Tangent has appointed James Scott-Flanagan as head of consulting.
Scott-Flanagan joins Tangent after over five years with Wunderman Thompson Commerce and Technology (part of WPP network), previously Cognifide. During this time, Scott-Flanagan progressed to the role of lead consultant and worked with clients including The Coca-Cola Company, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare and Mazda.
As head of consulting at Tangent, Scott-Flanagan will work to not only oversee and elevate strategy across existing clients, but will also reshape Tangent’s offering and spearhead business architecture and change services for new accounts. He will report to Nadine Clarke, Strategy Partner at Tangent.
The appointment comes following a transformative year for Tangent, whose proposition has evolved to become an advisory focused, strategy-led approach backed by a renewed brand identity to exemplify this shift, formally launched in January 2024.
Alongside existing core services including product strategy, design and technology engineering, Tangent will bolster its consultancy services by aiding client’s strategic direction, designing business structures and delivering this change along an actionable roadmap.
Strategy partner Clarke said: “We believe that in order to be a strategic partner to our clients from start to finish, we need to stay focussed on the business value we are building through their digital products. Consultancy can often be key to delivering this, especially when it is required to think about a problem as opposed to doing something for the sake of it.”
CEO Leigh Gammons added: “This team will give us a better understanding of our client’s business and, most importantly, develop executable strategies which are critical to our renewed proposition at Tangent. Having worked alongside James at WPP and with Nadine at Tangent, I believe there is no better combination to lead this service for Tangent.”
