After a stint as head of digital PR, she landed her current role in 2022 and is now responsible for the growth and development of the agency’s Manchester office.
Often with a varied week, Mitchell shares how a recent week in her life went…
Monday
I usually work from home on a Monday as the morning is full of cross-office meetings (Leeds, Manchester, and London), so I don’t normally have much time to catch up with my Manchester team face-to-face. I logged on around 8am to pick up any emails from over the weekend, check in with the team, and do some planning for priorities for the week ahead.
Every Monday at 9.30am we have our weekly sales meeting, where all the heads of business get together to discuss our sales pipeline, any new business pitches we have coming up, any potential wins or losses, and any renewals. These meetings are a great way to start the week as there are usually a lot of exciting things happening across the business.
I then jumped back on Teams for our weekly sales and marketing catch-up, where I chatted with our incredible team about what we all have on in the week. It’s usually a lot of event planning, content creation, new biz pitches and (especially this time of year) award writing.
I then met up with three of my Manchester team members to catch up about a talk we were planning for the fantastic Agency Academy in November. It will be all about our career history and the digital industry in general, we are all really looking forward to the event.
Tuesday
Tuesday is usually my first day of the week in our Manchester office, but this Tuesday I got up bright and early and headed to our head office in Leeds instead.
I spent most of the day partaking in mental health training for line managers. Training and development are essential at c3, and we want to ensure all our managers can support their teams in the best ways possible. That’s why we have delivered mental health training and neurodiversity training for all our managers, with even more types of training planned over the next few months.
I was really impressed with this course; I learnt a lot about how to support my team members, as well as how to deal with certain situations myself.
I then took advantage of the fact I was in Leeds to have face-to-face catch-ups with my mentees. I mentor four people at c3 who are looking for guidance and advice around soft skills, growing a team, public speaking or attending more networking events. Our mentoring scheme is another way we try and empower all our c3 staff to be the best they can be across more than just their own service area!
Wednesday
Wednesday was a day jam-packed with calls and meetings for the week. I had an initial new business call with a fantastic brand I met at the Prolific North awards last week, where I explained the history of c3 and we chatted through how we could help them reach their digital growth targets.
I then had a meeting with a new client who is due to start a partnership with us in the new year – we talked through deliverables, KPIs, roadmaps and a potential visit to their offices in December.
I finished the day with a call with our head of marketing, Frankie, to talk through some suggested titles for a new talk I’ll be delivering in London. I love attending events and delivering talks on business growth and organic strategies, and I’m excited to create a whole new talk for this event!
Thursday
This Thursday we had two big events happening in Manchester on the same night – our e-commerce leaders dinner at The Ivy, and an awards ceremony where we were up for Best Digital Campaign and Best Agency of the Year.
This meant that our Manchester office was full and there was a real sense of excitement in the air! We have a fantastic sales and marketing team who plan the most incredible events, and this was no different. Both events were a big success – we even won Best Digital Campaign!
Friday
Friday it was back to the office for a round of interviews for various positions in our Manchester office. We have seen significant growth over the past two years, and we’re always looking for dynamic and passionate individuals to join the team. We have even bigger growth plans over the next two years so now is the perfect time to join.
I then caught up with our group head of PR and group head of operations to run through the week and anything we need to be aware of for the coming week.
We have a 3pm finish on Fridays, so in the afternoon, I headed home after a hectic week for a takeaway and an early night!
