The BBC North West Tonight weather presenter Dianne Oxberry will be the ‘new face’ of InsideOut North West which returns to BBC One on Monday 2 September.
The programme, latterly presented by Tony Livesey, aims to offer viewers investigative stories from around the North West – typically stories they haven’t heard about previously.
Oxberry joined the BBC as a personal assistant at BBC Radio 2 and subsequently got her first broadcasting break on Radio 1 working alongside Steve Wright and later became part of Simon Mayo’s weekday breakfast show where she picked up a Silver Sony.
Her début spell on TV began in 1991 when she was made a presenter for the second series of the Saturday morning children’s TV programme, The 8:15 from Manchester.
She then took a career break and studied meteorology at the Met Office College in Berkshire before joining the BBC North West in 1995 as its first dedicated weather presenter.
The first programme in the new series on 2 September will see Peter Marshall investigating why no one has ever been charged 20 years on from the IRA bombing of Warrington.
