Channel 4 has ordered a 10 x 60 minute house building series from True North Productions.
Building The Dream is fronted by architectural designer, Charlie Luxton, who believes it’s cheaper to build your perfect home than it is to buy a ready-made property.
“Charlie’s passion for self-building is an inspiration not only to the families he works with, but shows all of us that our ideal home is surprisingly affordable if we build it ourselves,” said Channel 4 commissioning and development editor, David Sayer.
The programme will follow first-time home-builders as they find an empty plot of land and set about constructing their dream home.
Luxton will be on-hand to help out and will also reveal the property’s valuation at the end of the build, to see if it was indeed cheaper.
“The amazing properties built by ordinary people prove that you don’t have to be a millionaire to live in your dream home. We hope the series will help to inspire others who are up for the challenge,” added executive producer Jess Fowle.
