Asda has announced that multichannel will remain “central” to its plans as it launches more “Click & Collect” sites and increases mobile capacity.
The Leeds-based supermarket chain made the announced today as it announced its latest results, which showed that like-for-like sales for the 12 weeks to 5th July grew 0.7% (excluding VAT and fuel).
Andy Clarke, Asda’s president and CEO said it would be working with parent company, Walmart to adopt new in-store and technology innovations.
“Our focus on opening up more ways for more customers to shop with us, particularly in areas currently underserved by Asda, provides us with real opportunity to grow space and channels to adapt our business to today’s customer.
“I’m confident this focus will continue to drive growth in a sustainable way.”
At Christmas it expects 75% of customers to shop through multiple channels and as such it’s increasing the amount of Click & Collect sites and this month it became the first UK grocery retailer to provide a same day service – from its Wakefield store.
