The first pictures have been released of Domino Day, a new drama about modern witches.
Set and filmed in Manchester, it’s been created and written by BAFTA-nominated Lauren Sequeira and developed and produced by Fremantle’s Dancing Ledge Productions (The Responder, The Salisbury Poisoning).
Set to air on BBC Three and iPlayer early next year, it stars Siena Kelly (Adult Material, Hit & Run) as Domino Day, a young woman on all the dating apps. But Domino isn’t swiping to find her soulmate – she’s swiping to hunt.
“I cannot wait for the world to meet this amazing cast, led by the sensational Siena Kelly,” said Domino Day creator Lauren Sequeira.
“Don’t expect broomsticks, pointy hats and wands — these are witches like you’ve never seen before; cool, provocative, and full of grit. They are all simply spellbinding onscreen, and Siena is the perfect Domino Day.”
Alongside Kelly are Babirye Bukilwa as Sammie, Poppy Lee Friar as Geri, Alisha Bailey as Kat, Molly Harris as Jules, Sam Howard Sneyd as Silas, Percelle Ascott as Leon. The series also stars Lucy Cohu, Christopher Jeffers and Jonah Rzeskiewicz.
Episodes of the 6 x 45 minute series were written by Charlene James (Discovery of Witches, The Rising) and Haleema Mirza (Secret Invasion).
It is directed by Eva Sigurdardottir (Good Night, Rainbow Party) and Nadira Amrani (Extraordinary, On The Edge), with Nick Pitt as producer.
Fremantle is handling global distribution for the series.
