Wakefield games giant Team17 has confirmed it has begun a period of consultation ahead of expected job losses, including the departure of CEO Michael Pattison, games website Eurogamer reports.
The Worms developer said Pattison had “amicably parted ways” and told Eurogamer: “We can also confirm that we have sadly entered into a period of consultation today within Team17 Digital, with Astragon and Storytoys remaining unaffected by the restructuring plans.”
Team17 recently reported record HY revenue of £69.7m, although profit before tax slipped to £8.1m from £11.2m.
Around 50 roles – the majority of Team17’s QA department – are at risk as part of the restructure as Team17 looks to outsource its QA work, according to a document shared with staff members.
Team17 laid off several of its internal development teams earlier this year, and at the time said further layoffs would not occur.
Staff affected by these latest redundancies were informed of the news via an emergency town hall meeting yesterday. A consultation process on the changes has now begun, and will conclude in November.
Pattison joined Team17 in October 2021 as CEO after previously working at PlayStation.
