Premier has promoted Angela Smith to the new role of managing director filmed entertainment and to the company’s executive board.
Following the successful fusion of Premier’s film, television, digital and awards teams last year to create the Filmed Entertainment Division, it is now bringing this core component of Premier under the leadership of a single, focused business leader so that the agency can continue to deliver world class publicity services for filmed entertainment regardless of the method of distribution.
Smith, previously a film publicist and director of awards at the firm, will be responsible for overseeing all work within the film and television sector, both from the London operation and for Premier North’s Manchester-based team.
Jonathan Rutter, one of the founders of Premier, continues to provide the benefit of his long experience to wider relationship building across filmed entertainment and to other areas of the company’s activities.
Smith will also continue with her stewardship of Premier’s awards campaigning.
Executive chairman John Reiss said: “Formalising the leadership of our filmed entertainment team clarifies our integrated offering to our clients at a time when global investment in content has reached unprecedented levels. I am delighted to promote Angela to this exciting new role where I know her wide industry knowledge, strategic thinking and well-proven business drive will bring new vigour to our long-standing offering, whilst pleased that we have Jonathan Rutter’s ongoing counsel.”
Executive Director, Jonathan Rutter, added, “Angela and I have worked on and off together for 30 years. Her industry knowledge, managerial and strategic skills are already a major asset to the company and I feel confident that this new role, and the further integration of awards and publicity, will allow the division to continue to flourish”.
