Graham Norton steps up as Wheel of Fortune spins again

Iconic game show Wheel of Fortune will return to ITV1 and ITVX in 2024, as contestants once again spin to win.

Based on the successful global brand, the show will be hosted by BAFTA award winner Graham Norton and produced by Whisper North, part of the Sony Pictures Television- backed Whisper Group.

Returning for an 8 x 60 run, which includes two celebrity specials, the game show will once again be centred around a giant prize wheel as contestants spin to win for a life-changing cash prize.

The show has been in the headlines globally recently, with the US prime-time staple appointing Ryan Seacrest as host to replace the long-standing Pat Sajak after 41 seasons at the wheel.

Norton is himself a newcomer to the role, although the UK version has never had a host of quite Sajak’s 41-year vintage. Hosts including John Leslie, Nicky Campbell and Bradley Walsh take charge since launch in 1988 – the show was last seen on UK screens in 2001 when Paul Hendy played host for a solitary season.

Norton said: “I’m beyond excited to be bringing such an iconic American show to a new British audience. My first ever TV job was a game show on ITV so this feels like coming full circle. You might even call it a wheel.”

Sunil Patel, Whisper CEO, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing such a well-known and globally loved show to ITV primetime, and of course, to be working with the incredible Graham Norton, who we know will bring the show alive for contestants and audiences alike.”

Filmed at dock10 studios, Wheel of Fortune is a Whisper North production for ITV1 and ITVX. The series has been commissioned by Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning, ITV and Leanne Clarke, commissioning, media and entertainment at ITV. The executive producers for Whisper North are Kerri Reid and Tom McLennan.

The original U.S. show is produced by Sony Pictures Television Studios, a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company, which is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution along with the format rights.
