Teesside University has joined the Turing University Network, to drive research and partnerships across data science and artificial intelligence.

Set up by The Turing Institute, over 30 UK universities are now part of the scheme.

“Teesside University is a powerhouse within the data science and artificial intelligence domain, so we are thrilled to be a part of such a prestigious network,” said Professor Claudio Angione, who specialises in artificial intelligence within Teesside University’s School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies.

“We look forward to working with the Turing University Network and The Alan Turing Institute, and we are excited to embark upon new collaborations and projects as a result.”

The university has also received a Turing Network Funding Award to lead a research networking event later this month on AI in Biomedicine and Healthcare.

“We are thrilled to once again receive the support, which will contribute to our ongoing research around the true potential of data science and artificial intelligence,” said Dr Annalisa Occhipinti, Senior Lecturer in Computer Science (Data Analytics) from Teesside University’s School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies, will be among the guest speakers at the event.

Donna Brown, Director of Academic Engagement at The Alan Turing Institute, added:

“The network is crucial to successful delivery of the Institute Strategy, enables our role as a national convenor in the data science and AI landscape, and creates opportunity for meaningful collaboration where interests align across research and innovation, skills, and engagement.”
