Newcastle interior design firm Collaborative Design has unveiled ambitious expansion plans to spread its wings, undergoing an extensive rebrand as a key step in the process.
The company has launched a new website and a full rebrand and, having established itself as one of the go-to interior design firms for Newcastle’s independent bars, clubs and restaurants, is looking further afield for business, both in terms of expansion throughout the country and the sectors it serves.
Alongside sister company Bilateral Design Limited, it said talks are currently at an “advanced” stage for a large hotel resort project off the African coast, valued at around $60 million. The project could see Collaborative Design Limited landing a contract lasting anywhere between two-to-four years, and providing capital for the firm’s expansion of its portfolio in the UK and beyond.
The Tyneside firm also said it hopes to double its current team of 11 designers, marketers and architects to 20 by the end of the year to help facilitate new growth.
Collaborative Design’s managing director, Chris Sutton has already designed some of Newcastle’s most impressive venues including Gosforth’s Barluga, a bar/restaurant located within the walls of a converted church, and according to Sutton one of the company’s most memorable designs.
He said: “With a good budget and an amazing space of a converted church, we were given free rein to create the new incarnation of the Barluga brand, receiving accolades and a nomination for Bar/Restaurant of the year at the Northern Design awards.”
Over the last 15 years, Sutton has also worked with one of the North East’s most successful late-night haunts, Tup Tup Palace Nightclub, designing the original concept and working regularly with the venue since, reinventing the space to keep up with ever-changing tastes and trends.
Loja Lounge on Tup Tup Palace’s first floor and the previous iteration of the popular club TheCut also has Collaborative Design to thank for its striking interiors.
