Yorkshire-based online tech retailer, ebuyer, has been sold to two UK investors – Mark Reed and Rich Marsden.
For the last 19 years, the Goole-based firm has been part of West Retail Group, which also owns Wren Kitchens.
Details of the deal haven’t been revealed, but ebuyer employs more than 200 staff, and reported a turnover of £241m in 2021.
“Delighted to announce the acquisition today of Ebuyer through our investment company Realtime Holding’s Ltd,” said Marsden, who’s now CEO of ebuyer.
“This brings to a close a project I have worked on for a number of months, I am delighted that I will be back working closely with Mark Reed whose support throughout has been exceptional.
“I would also like to put on record my thanks to Malcom, Mark and Alex at West Retail Group who have entrusted us to be the custodians of this fantastic business and to build on the solid foundations that are already in place.”
Rich Marsden was Sales Director at Realtime Distribution and has since been MD of VIP Computers in Warrington and Director of Platinum Components in Manchester.
Co-owner, Mark Reed founded gaming and tech marketing agency Heaven Media and was previously Director of Marketing EMEA for AMD and MD of Realtime Distribution.
“Trust and respect are what has kept the relationship with Rich Marsden and I over the past 20 years, and it is that basis that this acquisition and his leadership stems from,” stated Reed.
“I will assume role as Executive Chairman for ebuyer and will continue my Heaven role alongside this.
“Ebuyer.com has experienced monumental success in recent years but there is so, so much more to come. Rich and I have a robust plan for ebuyer to see this business scale to incredible new heights.”
The company has also appointed a new CFO, Alison Rose, who’ll work alongside the current leadership team.
