Programmatic media specialist MiQ has appointed John Thomson as chief revenue officer of the UK business.
Thomson was formerly commercial director at Quantcast and will now lead MiQ’s unified commercial strategy across its Manchester and London offices.
Thomson said: “Having worked in the ad-tech industry for several years, I recognize MiQ as a company at the forefront of the programmatic media space, and I’m looking forward to helping drive business outcomes for our partners with innovative solutions.”
Thomson began his media career in 2010 at talkSPORT, working in the sponsorship and promotions team. From there, he moved to Yahoo! and began to specialise in digital media sales. In 2014, he joined Quantcast, where he stayed for nine years.
Clare Beddow will also shortly be joining the team as head of commercial strategy for the UK business.
Beddow’s remit is predicated on building and fostering meaningful and sustainable agency partnerships. She will focus on ways to support agencies through enhancing their proprietary offerings, delivering world-class performance and achieving their sustainability goals.
With almost 20 years of experience in the media industry, Beddow has worked across a variety of disciplines for companies such as Channel 5, Global Radio, Microsoft/AOL/Verizon and most recently Spotify, where she worked as UK director of sales. There, she helped to drive revenue and culture of the sales team, as well as led agency trading deals and relationships.
Beddow said: “I’m looking forward to working with the team to help foster existing agency business and build new commercial partnerships to support the continued acceleration of the UK team.”
Beddow will be starting her position at the end of February and will be reporting to Thomson, while Thomson will be reporting into Freddie Turner, managing director, MiQ UK. Turner said: “I am delighted to welcome both Clare and JT to the MiQ team. As MiQ goes from strength to strength and continues on our mission to over-deliver for our customers, both additions will bolster our commercial leadership in the UK, and reinforce that MiQ attracts and retains the best talent in the industry.”
