Newsquest has named a new editor for sister titles, Carlisle News & Star and The Mail.
Joy Yates had been covering Vanessa Sims last year, when she went on maternity leave and following Sims’ decision to leave the publisher, Yates has been given the role full-time.
“Delighted to start 2023 as Regional Editor for Newsquest Cumbria. Privileged to work alongside such talented and dedicated, award-winning teams across our online, print and magazine portfolio,” wrote Yates.
Yates has previously been Editorial Director at Johnston Press and Regional Director of JPIMedia North East.
In the new role she will oversee 5 of Newsquest’s Cumbrian titles, including Workington Times & Star and Hexham Courant.
