Manchester-based online fashion operator, N Brown Group, says it has seen “solid trading” against a “tough environment” for the last 18 weeks.
In a trading update this morning, it stated that cost of living pressures had impacted its customers during the third quarter, as group revenue fell 7.6% against the previous quarter. It was down 5.9% year-on-year.
“We have traded in line with our expectations through a challenging period, as customers continue to be more cautious with their discretionary spending in the face of the various, well-documented consumer pressures,” said Chief Executive, Steve Johnson.
“Although we are cautious about the macro environment over the next 12 months, we remain confident in the resilience of our business and in the strategic investments which we are making for the long term.”
The company said that it expected the final quarter of the year to be “softer” than Q3 as they are its quietest months of the year.
N Brown’s brands include JD Williams, Simply Be and Jacamo. It employs more than 1800 people across the country.
