Manchester United has confirmed that TeamViewer is to end its £235m shirt sponsorship deal.

The club said that the two companies had had a “period of collaborative, private discussions over the past months” which concluded with a “mutually-beneficial agreement” whereby United will buy back the rights.

Germany-based TeamViewer first announced that it was considering pulling out of the deal back in August. At the time its share price had been falling and it told the Stock Exchange that it wasn’t intending to extend the agreement.

The 5 year deal, which was the biggest shirt sponsorship in the Premier League’s history, was due to run until 2026.

Signed during the Covid-19 pandemic, Manchester United said that it would be taking the opportunity to “commence a focused sales process for a new shirt front partner in a normalised market.”

TeamViewer will continue as a global partner until the end of 2026 and according to today’s statement: “TeamViewer’s financial commitments to Manchester United remain unchanged whilst they remain the club’s shirt front partner, after which their financial commitments will reflect their status as a global partner.”
