Reach has confirmed today that it will launch a dedicated US operation next year, to grow its audience for the Mirror, Express and an online version of the Irish Star.
As part of the expansion, it will “bolster” its 24-7 sports coverage to “more closely serve U.S. based soccer fans.”
It stated this would have the biggest impact for the Manchester Evening News, FootballLondon and Liverpool.com which covers Liverpool FC.
“The experience and data we’ve gathered over recent years, both on our existing national titles and from launching dozens of newsbrands from scratch, will ensure we are in a strong position to take advantage of this opportunity to reach millions more readers every day,’ sated Group Editor-in-Chief, Lloyd Embley, who’ll be leading the move, alongside Chief Digital Publisher, David Higgerson.
Recruitment for positions has already begun, with current staff also being invited to apply for roles and overseas secondments.
The new US operation will be based in New York.
