CFM to rebrand as Greatest Hits Radio (Cumbria and SW Scotland)

CFM's Robbie Dee

Cumbria station CFM is to rebrand to Greatest Hits Radio (Cumbria and SW Scotland) from April 2023.

The newly named station will bring listeners shows from much-loved national presenters Simon Mayo, Jackie Brambles, Paul Gambaccini, Martin Kemp, Kate Thornton and Jenny Powell, as well as a local afternoon show from legendary CFM Breakfast host, Robbie Dee.

The station will continue to keep listeners informed of local news and information, including traffic and travel, alongside a playlist of songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s, including Blondie, Queen, George Michael, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Elton John and Whitney Houston.

Ben Cooper, chief content and music officer for Bauer Media Audio UK said “Greatest Hits Radio has been going from strength to strength and we’re delighted to be able to bring it to listeners to Cumbria and South West Scotland on FM with this exciting rebrand. We’re really proud of the mixture of regional and nationally produced shows that the network delivers and know that listeners will love to continue hearing from Robbie Dee each weekday, as well as from lots of our other legendary broadcasters.”

Popular CFM presenter Dee said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Greatest Hits Radio family 1pm – 4pm weekday afternoons across Cumbria and south west Scotland. As soon as you switch the radio on you know every great song.”

He added: “After 20 years on the breakfast show, I’m also extremely excited about NOT getting up at 4am! Robbie Dee in the Afternoon on Greatest Hits Radio – the good times sound like this.”

CFM is the latest in a long line of independent local legacy stations to fall under Bauer’s Greatest Hits umbrella. It will be joining a brand family which includes much-loved favourites such as Manchester Piccadilly Radio and Leeds’ Radio Aire.

Advertising for local businesses will continue as normal upon rebrand in April 2023, and the station will also continue to support disadvantaged young people in the area through its Cash for Kids charity.
