Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has awarded Fearless Adventures’ academy scheme funding as part of the Skills Bootcamps programme, provided by the Department of Education’s National Skills Fund.
The academy will use the funding to set up a second location in Liverpool where it will deliver fully-funded industry-led digital marketing training to help individuals and businesses in Sefton, Wirral, Halton, Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens.
The first Fearless Academy, co-founded by Social Chain entrepreneur Dom McGregor, opened its doors in Manchester in September. The first Liverpool cohort will start on December 19, 2022, with training delivered on Mondays and Tuesdays each week. There are up to 30 learner spaces available for this initial intake.
Anyone over the age of 19 in the catchment areas can gain vital digital skills taught by those currently working in digital marketing roles, an approach which the academy claims is unique. Alongside this, the academy’s team will support learners upon completion of the 12-week Skills Bootcamp, leveraging their extensive founder network and providing accessible routes into employment, should they need it.
The industry-led curriculum will be delivered by digital marketing experts from the parent brand, Fearless Adventures. Its tutors will be sharing their knowledge and expertise across a range of digital specialisms, including Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Pay-Per-Click (PPC), social media, graphic design, and web development. The tutors are all experienced professionals that have supported a diverse range of high-growth global brands, including The Hut Group, Co-op, Unilever, Aldi, Logitech, and Superdry.
This programme is part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs initiatives, designed to help people onto the career ladder, transition back into work, or access progression opportunities while also helping employers meet skills needs.
Skills Bootcamps are fully-funded, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer.
Dominic McGregor, Fearless Academy co-founder, said: “With our expansion into Liverpool, it’s a big moment for everyone involved with The Fearless Academy but also a monumental step towards supporting the North of England close the digital skills gap. I am incredibly proud of the wide range of individuals who are already benefiting from our Digital Skills Bootcamps and can’t wait to support the Liverpool region.”
Amy Wild, Fearless Academy director, added: “We’ve worked tirelessly to develop an industry-led digital marketing curriculum that will give learners the best chance of finding employment. I am delighted we are able to expand our training to the Liverpool region and help close the digital skills gap in the North.”
