In the midst of the ongoing BBC shakeup of local radio, a pair of Radio Humberside journalists and presenters have claimed that all staff at the corporation’s local radio station face redundancy.
Radio Humberside’s afternoon show presenter and senior journalist Andy Comfort added that all existing presenter roles are also to be closed, with presenters forced to reapply for their jobs.
Almost ALL staff on BBC Local Radio have been placed at risk of redundancy today. Many may be moved to new roles. ALL presenter roles are closing. Presenters will have to re-apply for new on air jobs. I think it would be fair to say we are stunned and upset here.

Unsurprisingly, Comfort describes himself and his colleagues as “stunned and upset.” Comfort’s Radio Humberside colleague Andy Burns, host of sports show The Burnsy show, also confirmed the redundancy threat.
Just confirmed all @bbc local radio presenters at “risk of redundancy”. @RadioHumberside — David Burns (@bbcburnsy) November 1, 2022
Radio Humberside is understood to be among the first stations to have received a staff call on the ongoing developments yesterday, with further calls planned nationwide today and tomorrow.
