Leeds Playhouse has partnered with Leeds-based animation studio Little Motel to create an animated TV advert for its production of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory – The Musical.
The move follows the success of last year’s animated seasonal TV ad for the Playhouse’s production of Wendy and Petr Pan, also produced by Little Motel. Alongside a wider marketing campaign, that ad helped the Playhouse increase ticket sales of their festive production by 24 per cent over a two-week period. And for Josh Babcock, head of marketing at Leeds Playhouse, it was an easy decision to reappoint Little Motel for the 2022 festive trailer.
“Not only did last year’s advert look amazing, but the support of the Little Motel team was invaluable. Coupled with the strong results we achieved together, it was an easy decision to continue the partnership,” he said.
Matt Cochrane, studio director at Little Motel added: “Working with a prestigious local institution such as Leeds Playhouse continues to be a privilege. We’ve taken things a step further with this year’s advert, following the enchanting journey of the golden ticket through a 3D rendition of the Playhouse and all the magic and sparkle everyone would expect to see within.”
The 30-second advert will be broadcast across video-on-demand over a 2-week period, with the production running between November 18, 2022 and January 28, 2023.
