US star RuPaul has spoken of his love of Manchester following a spell in the city shooting episodes of his Lingo game show at dock10 Studios for both US and UK TV.
The Drag Race host seemed to be nothing short of besotted with the city: “I haven’t worked in Manchester since 1996,” he told ITV in a post-shoot Q&A. “Watching Manchester evolve in all of these years has been such a joy. Back in 1996 no one could’ve guessed it evolving into this super-modern, sexy metropolis. Now, I can honestly say it is one of my favourite places in the UK.”
RuPaul was in town in August to shoot episodes of Lingo for CBS back home, and he also stepped into Adil Ray’s shoes to host a new series of the UK’s celebrity version of the show while he was here – Ray remains host of the daytime show, which was itself recently renewed for a further 50 episodes.
The star said of his new gig on the UK’s celebrity spin off: “I’m so excited to be hosting the celebrity version of ITV’s Lingo because I love playing games. It’s a party for me. If I weren’t playing Lingo in front of a camera, I’d be playing at my house so why not do it here in Manchester for ITV.”
Viewers can catch RuPaul hosting Celebrity Lingo from one of his favourite places in the UK every Sunday night at 6.30pm on ITV.
