Chris Stevens has announced this morning that he will be leaving CountryLine, the company that acquired Chris Country Radio in 2020.
Stevens has continued to manage CountryLine Radio, as well as presenting its breakfast show.
“It’s been 9 years years since Chris Country started, with I think, 3 listeners,” he said.
“However, my life has changed quite a lot along the way. I’m now a dad and it felt like it was the right time to step back from the radio station – a bit more dad and a bit less DJ.”
He founded Chris Country in 2013, which operated on DAB in Manchester and Liverpool, and became London’s first 24/7 digital country music station in 2016. In 2020, the MediaCityUK-based station was acquired by the Elton John-backed fan app, CountryLine, with Stevens heading up its new CountryLine Radio operation as Head of Global Audio.
He told listeners:
“You’ve make my dream come true, which is to have country music here in the UK.”
He’ll be leaving at the end of July.
