Channel X North is to make a television movie of its CBBC series, So Awkward.
The Manchester-based show has been streamed 90m times on the BBC iPlayer and will come back with an 80 minute special, So Awkward: Kids Camp.
Filmed on location in Todmoden, Cleo Demetriou will reprise her role of Lily Hampton as she takes on a job at a kids summer camp.
CBBC has also ordered A Kind of Spark, which is based on the award-winning novel by Elle McNicoll. The 10 x 25minute live action series will be filmed in Manchester.
It tells the story of Addie, a “bright and sparky” autistic girl, dreaming of acceptance in a conservative community. Her desire to be herself and protect her sister from prejudice becomes entwined with a historical mystery of 2 sisters in the 16th century.
“I am excited to see the wide range of content and high quality titles we have secured for children of all ages and their families to enjoy together over the coming months,” said Patricia Hidalgo, Director BBC Children’s and Education.
