Catherine Tyldesley has joined Salford City Council’s Home is On Your High Street campaign – starring in a short film focusing on highlighting what local businesses have to offer.
The actress, best known for her role as Eva Price in Coronation Street, is originally from Salford herself, and is shown visiting a range of independent businesses in Salford to encourage people to get back to them.
This is the next phase of the campaign, which launched in December 2021 and has so far included outdoor advertising promoting the message to shop local, along with a four-day tour of Salford over half term in February including live music and art.
The short film featuring Tyldesley was shot over half a day, and features multiple high street locations. It was created by Whistlejacket and is currently being shown on Connected TV in Salford.
Cath Tyldesley said: “It was great to be asked to be involved with this campaign, supporting Salford businesses coming out of a very difficult few years. Being from Salford myself, and living locally – anyone who knows me will know I’m always championing the city that I love, talking about the great things it has to offer.
“I had such a fun time shooting the film and talking to staff working in lovely independent shops and cafes. I’m very excited and can’t wait for everyone to see it!”
