Mather & Co is designing the redevelopment of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum.
It is one of the largest tennis museums in the world and the changes include the creation of new interactive zones and a gallery called “The Open Era.” This will feature exhibits around broadcasting the tournament, a year in the life of player and behind the scenes in the dressing rooms.
“We have been given a wonderful opportunity to work once again with Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum – one of the world’s foremost sports brands and recognised throughout the world,” said Kim Kherlopian, Project Director at Mather & Co.
“From our initial brief it has been a real pleasure to work with a gifted curatorial and operations team as part of a new collaboration to create something different and compelling.”
Wilmslow-based Mather & Co were behind the award-winning museum’s original design in 2006.
“This redevelopment has given us the chance to showcase new objects, explore current themes and experiment with display techniques to bring the excitement of Wimbledon to life,” said Emma Traherne, Curator at Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum.
“Working with the team at Mather & Co has been really exciting and we cannot wait to share the finished result.”
The new galleries are due to open at the end of April.
