Manchester presenter, Terry Christian will return to BBC Radio Derby to mark the 40th anniversary of Barbed Wireless.
The show is credited as changing the face of youth programming and launched the career of a “fresh-faced young man who’d been plucked from the dole queue in Manchester.”
It went on to win 2 Sony Awards in consecutive years, playing tracks linking rock, reggae, soul and funk.
It was Christian’s first radio show and ran from 1982 until 1988, when he returned to Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio.
The anniversary shows will air next week from 9pm and see Christian flick through his record collection as well as featuring interviews from the time, including Mike Scott from the Waterboys and Human League’s Jo Calls.
