Channel 4 has signed a 2-year deal to bring the Betfred Super League to free-to-air television for the first time in its history.
The channel will air 10 matches each year during the partnership, including 2 of the end of year Play-Off games. Coverage begins in February with Leeds Rhinos v Warrington Wolves.
“It’s fantastic news for rugby fans and it’s a really special addition to Channel 4’s sports portfolio particularly since it’s one of our first major partnerships since moving to our new National HQ building at the Majestic in Leeds,” said Channel 4’s Head of Sport Pete Andrews (pictured).
The Super League is the latest in a line of sports broadcasts secured by the channel recently, including live coverage of Emma Raducanu’s US Open victory; live British Lions rugby; and live Test match cricket coverage of England’s tour in India.
“We are delighted to be able to confirm a brand-new broadcast partnership with Channel 4. They have a great track record of showing some of the best sporting competitions,” added Ken Davy, Super League Chairman.
