Leeds-based online pharmacy Pharmacy2U has announced its new partnership with Diabetes UK.
To support the diabetes charity, the online pharmacy will sponsor the charity’s helpline to support patients living with diabetes and those at risk of type 2 diabetes across the UK.
The online pharmacy, which aims to create a more accessible service with online prescription orders and free delivery, will also aim to raise £25,000 to help the charity with funding its work.
Pharmacy2U was also referred to as a ‘futurecorn’ business in the Yorkshire region according to a report from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) released today. A ‘futurecorn’ business is a company which could reach unicorn status in the next few years.
Phil Day, Superintendent Pharmacist of Pharmacy2U, said: “As the UK’s largest online pharmacy supporting over half a million patients with their NHS repeat prescriptions, diabetes affects many of our patients and their loved ones. We are committed to delivering positive patient outcomes, which is why we’ll be sponsoring Diabetes UK’s helpline.”
Kath Abrahams, Director of Engagement and Fundraising at Diabetes UK, added: “Thanks to Pharmacy2U, our helpline will be able to help people with diabetes, their family or friends, and people who are worried they might be at risk – providing them with essential information and guidance about the condition.”
