A Manchester VFX and animation studio has set up a new offering, to help production companies clean up and restore archive and stock footage.
Gelato’s VFX Supervisor, Eddy Strickland, explained that increasingly their services had been sought out by indies, hoping to use archive and stock footage for productions.
“The service had been in development for some time, but we realise that the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has interrupted shooting schedules for many productions and left broadcasters and streaming services with a shortfall in new content,” he said.
“Our restoration service aims to assist production companies who are turning to archive and stock footage based productions.”
The new technique, which can colour black and white film, as well as improving and repairing analogue and digital footage, will run alongside its VFX, animation and 3D scanning operations.
