Morrisons launches full range on Amazon for same-day delivery

Morrisons

Morrisons shoppers will now be able to do their full grocery shop on Amazon following a deal between the Yorkshire retailer and US giant.

The service will launch in Leeds initially, before going live for an estimated 15 million Prime members UK-wide before the end of the year.

The Bradford-headquartered supermarket chain does have an existing tie-in with Amazon, in which its fresh, chilled and frozen goods are sold with same-day delivery on the Prime app.

Now customers will have a full range of groceries to choose from if they subscribe to Prime though. Orders will be hand-picked from local stores by Morrisons staff and delivered to customers by Amazon in cool bags at the back of a van.

Doug Gurr, Amazon’s UK boss, said: “We’re always looking at ways to make Prime even better. Members can soon order their weekly groceries from their local Morrisons shop, with same-day delivery, at no extra cost.”

David Potts, the chief executive of Morrisons, added: “It will give more and more customers the option of receiving Morrisons groceries straight to their doorstep, including freshly prepared products.”
