A new Manchester ecommerce platform selling shirts through subscription has received a six figure investment from Scott Fletcher.
The Shirt Society was founded by Matt Bird, offering a rolling monthly subscription, where members log-on to select the shirt of their choice.
“Although producing great quality shirts is our ultimate output, The Shirt Society is fundamentally a technology business,” said Bird.
“We recognise the importance of building a platform that is both sleek and stylish, but fundamentally easy and quick to use. After all, our main aim is to take the time and hassle out of the shopping experience.
“The investment from Scott will allow us to start doing this. It’s a natural fit because Scott is a renowned investor in successful technology businesses. Our growth ambitions are hugely exciting and I’m thrilled to have him onboard, and excited to build The Shirt Society brand.”
Fletcher founded cloud service provider ANS and heads up companies, worth in excess of £250m, including Vibe Group, Wakelet and Padoq.
His investment will be used help in the early expansion of the business, including the hiring of staff and creating a bespoke platform for the subscription service.
“I could see the potential in the business straight away. The Shirt Society really does address a gap in the men’s shirt market with an innovative solution for the digital era, and takes online shopping one step further,” he explained.
“Matt showed me the quality of the shirts and that’s what made the final decision for me. I’m looking forward to being a part of building the success of The Shirt Society going forward.”
The Shirt Society platform launches in beta, on 22nd June with the full launch expected in September.
