Initially starting her career in-house, gaining experience from the manufacturing and construction sectors, Kayleigh joined the agency in 2020.

Wild PR (formerly KC Communications) is a PR and communications consultancy that specialises in traditional and digital PR, social media, and SEO-focused content creation to tell their client’s stories, raise brand profiles and increase visibility.

Established in 2014, the agency works with clients in the ecommerce, travel, health, property, manufacturing and professional services sectors.

Here, Kayleigh shares the top three influences throughout her career in marketing and PR.

The person that has inspired my working career the most, and why

I wouldn’t be able to pinpoint a specific person who inspired my working career, as there have been so many. My mum has always been a person with a great work ethic, working late and through school holidays to provide for her family, which I’ve always admired. Now, she can relax a little and enjoy more time at home. I think this is where I get my work ethic and need to want to do my best.

I am also surrounded by career-driven people every day at Wild PR – ever since I joined the team, I have been supported and provided with fantastic opportunities for both personal and professional growth. In fact, I am currently undertaking a CIPR Specialist Diploma in Digital Communication to further my knowledge and expertise, and to continue building my professional accreditations thanks to the agency.

The place that has inspired my working career the most, and why

The manufacturing company I used to work for during my Business and Administration apprenticeship when I was 17. When I first started, I was originally employed to be a personal assistant for a director who spent his entire time in China, but as he was never around, I had to make my own role within the business.

I took on a sales/customer service position and soon realised that the company had no marketing strategy whatsoever. From there, I took the initiative and built up new social media accounts, went to trade shows, researched and learnt more about marketing and finally applied to The University of Huddersfield, undertaking a course in Marketing to help support the growth of the business. Before this, I had yet to learn where I saw myself in five or ten years time.

The thing that has inspired my working career the most, and why

Being told by my English teacher that I would succumb to nothing once I left school. Harsh, I know; I’m not quite sure what I ever did wrong other than have a very big (maybe, loud) personality as I loved English! But it gave me the drive to prove her wrong.

I’d like to think my bubbly and energetic personality was one of the things picked up in interviews and has helped my progression. It is definitely a factor behind my success in building relationships with people in the industry, clients, and journalists.
