Liverpool was the most televised Premier League football club for the last season, beating both Manchester United and Manchester City.

The research comes from Warrington-based online firm, WherestheMatch, which found that the Reds appeared 29 times on either Sky or BT Sport.

With the increase in TV revenues, Liverpool’s domestic broadcast appearances equate to £33.5m.

“With Sky Sports and BT Sport investing so much money into live Football TV rights, each match costing them around £9.3m to broadcast over the next 3 years, they can’t be blamed for wanting to show the biggest teams that give them the opportunity of getting a return on their investment,” explained Wes Lewis, Director of Wheresthematch.com.

“The teams at the bottom will continue to play for scraps in terms of income, although the stats do suggest that being near the wrong end of the table will get them on TV at the end of the season.”

29 Liverpool – £33.5m

27 Manchester United – £31.2m

26 Manchester City – £30.1m

The next Northern clubs were Newcastle United at 7th (19 matches, £22.3m), followed by Everton with 18 televised matches (£21.2m)

At the bottom, were Huddersfield, with 8 televised matches, generating a TV income of £12.3m.
