Former Coronation Street Executive Producer Kieran Roberts has joined new Yorkshire production company CanCan Productions as Executive Producer Drama.
CanCan, which was set up in 2018, recently had its first commission – sitcom ‘Home from Home’ starring Johnny Vegas and Emilia Fox on BBC1.
Roberts ran ITV Studios’ Manchester drama department from 2005 to 2016 and executive produced more than 3,000 episodes of Coronation Street. His productions have received eight BAFTAs and in June 2018 he received The Tony Warren Award at the British Soap Awards for his outstanding contribution to soap.
Rebecca Papworth, MD of CanCan productions, was Executive Producer at BBC Comedy North until 2017. She established Hat Trick North, launched The Salford Sitcom Showcase and spent time as a Commissioning Executive Nations and Regions for BBC Comedy.
Her credits include Rab C Nesbitt, Gavin & Stacey, The Royle Family and Wallace and Gromit. She was the first woman to produce ‘Have I Got News For You’, and series-produced award winning factual entertainment series ‘I Love the 80’s’.
