Manchester creative agency Modern English has created a microsite to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Britney Spears’ debut album ‘Baby One More Time’.
The site, ‘Britney OS ’99’, includes a retro messaging app and enables users to speak with a ‘Britney Bot’. They can also send GIFs, make calls and chat to create a shareable playlist that reflects their mood.
The work was commissioned by New York based Legacy Recordings, the catalogue division of Sony Music Entertainment.
Modern English have completed recent projects for Dua Lipa, Mariah Carey and The Beatles and their co-founder Andrew Hirst said: “Britney is one of the most iconic music artists of the last few decades and so it’s been an absolute honour to work on this project.
“The retro design and feel of Britney OS’99 is something we think will really resonate with fans from that era, It’s like going back in time, while the chatbot tech and integration with streaming platforms is very current. We’re very proud of it and hope that Britney is as pleased as we are.”
