Channel 4 is to recruit for a Managing Director to run its new National HQ in Leeds in the new year.
The Yorkshire city won the race to be the broadcaster’s new HQ at the end of October, beating off competition from Birmingham and Manchester. Early in January, Channel 4 will begin the recruitment process to find a Managing Director, Nations & Regions, to “deliver the 4AlltheUK Nations & Regions strategy”.
The MD will lead the establishment of Channel 4’s three new bases – Bristol and Glasgow being the two smaller creative hubs – as well as working to develop new relationships and opportunities for collaboration.
“The role will also be a champion for the Nations & Regions across Channel 4 and, alongside the Commissioning team, will work to effectively deliver the significant increase in Nations & Regions commissioning spend,” the broadcaster said.
The new role will report into Chief Commercial Officer Jonathan Allan. CEO Alex Mahon (above) also announced the creation of a new Chief Marketing Officer role to lead Channel 4’s marketing strategy across the organisation.
Recruitment for the new CMO will commence in the new year too and both the 4Creative team, led by Head of 4Creative Alice Tonge, and the Marketing team, led by Head of Marketing James Walker, will report into this person.
A new centralised department, the Office of the CEO, has also been established to bring together planning and communications and will be led by Chief of Staff Lynette Huntley.
