The Manchester Evening News has produced a “perfect” front page to mark the first anniversary of the Manchester Arena bomb.

The wordless cover simply features 22 bees – one for each of those who died in the attack – in the shape of a heart.

Underneath the image are the names of those who died.

Many hailed the cover on Twitter, with Liverpool Echo editor Alastair Machray calling it “perfect” and Daily Mirror head of audience Nicola Oakley labelling it “beautiful”.

Councillor Pat Karney said it “captures the thoughts of our city” while journalist Ian Mean described it as a “great front page from a real newspaper at the heart of its community”.

The Reach-owned newspaper has a team of reporters and photographers across the city to cover the series of events being held today to remember those who died and were injured.
