Ribbeck appointed NW editor of TheBusinessDesk.com

Mike Ribbeck

Experienced business journalist Mike Ribbeck has returned to his home town of Manchester to become North-West editor of TheBusinessDesk.com.

Ribbeck is a former chief reporter with the Lancashire Evening Telegraph and was also business editor of the Western Daily Press and Bristol Post before going into PR for the last 12 months.

Former Liverpool Echo and Manchester Evening News business journalist Neil Hodgson has also joined, as a reporter with particular focus on Liverpool. Meanwhile, deputy North West editor Nick Jackson has left the company after three years to go freelance.

Alex Turner, joint managing director of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “Experienced business journalists are very hard to find, so we are really pleased to have Mike and Neil strengthen our North West team.

“Mike is leading our presence in the region and has slotted in seamlessly while Neil’s knowledge of Liverpool is enabling us to cover the city region’s business community in greater depth than before.

“We have been in the North West for 10 years and their appointments reinforce our leading position in the regional business news space. I worked with Neil for three years when I was on the Post and Echo business team, so know the quality I’ve got.”

In October, former Guardian correspondent Helen Carter quit as North West editor of TheBusinessDesk.com just a week after starting.
