Trinity Mirror is looking for six permanent staff for Leeds Live after launching the digital-only venture last week.
The site went live with a team seconded from some of the group’s other regional operations. The launch was ioverseen by Huddersfield Examiner editor, Wayne Ankers, and Ed Walker, editor (digital) for Trinity Mirror Regionals.
The permanent team will be led by a Publisher along with two Live News Reporters, a What’s On Writer, a Leeds United Editor and a Digital Sports Writer.
Walker said: “Our launch team have done a great job getting us live in Leeds, now we need a team to take Leeds Live forward. We’re recruiting for a team of six to help shape a new brand, site and social media channels for the city.”
Leeds Live is based at the Open Data Institute in Munro House. The launch team includes multimedia journalists Samantha Gildea, previously digital development editor at the Huddersfield Examiner, and Todd Fitzgerald, who specialised in politics and local government at the Manchester Evening News.
Reporter Laura Hill arrived from the Chronicle in Newcastle, while Tom Marshall-Bailey joined from football.london to edit the website’s Leeds United coverage. The final member was Dion Jones, who is head of audience engagement and social media for the North Wales Daily Post and associated weekly titles.
